So Much!

Sorry I have not updated in a while. I kept telling myself that if I finished by work by 11 PM that I would update but I have been so busy and going to bed really late that the blog had to be pushed to the side for a bit.

The Heat Streak is Over
We have had quite a heatwave here in South Australia. After 15 days with the temperature over 35 degrees Celsius we are finally getting some cooler weather. The 15 day streak is the record heat streak since temperatures were recorded.

Esther Blueburger
Esther Blueburger is an Australian MTV movie. This doesn't sound all to exciting. BUT the really cool thing is that they filmed at Annesley!! The movie has parts of the school and many of the Annesley students in it as extras. The school uniform is even one of the movie's costumes. We brought the boarders to the pre-showing of the movie. It was funny hearing the girls' reaction as they saw themselves and their friends in the movie. I also recognized some of the staff. I told one of the teachers that I saw him in the movie and now he's been talking about his acting career for days. It was really interesting seeing how they combined parts of Annesley with parts of another school for the setting of the movie. They even changed the layout of the parts of the school that they used. For example, one part Esther runs out of a science lab and down some stairs which are part of a completely different building.

Dr. Pepper
Now for some exciting news!! I found Dr. Pepper! Last Friday I went to the markets with one of the form classes to collect donations for Muscular Dystrophy. Right before we left, the students were able to go and get some snacks and treats. A couple of the students came out with Dr. Pepper they got at a Lolli Shop!! I was excited about this fact because I then knew that I could find it!! I had been told you could get it at some places but not many places carry it. Unfortunately I had to wait until Saturday to get some since we needed to catch the tram back to the school. I only got 3 cans of it since cost $3/can. It had been almost two months since I last had Dr. Pepper!!

International Dinner and Play
I was invited to go to the international student dinner (since I am an international student....teacher). We went to a really good cafe called Cafe Primo. I had some amazing Butter Chicken. Each dinner came with a complimentary PANCAKE!! I have never been somewhere where you get a complementary pancake with your dinner, usually its bread or a scoop of ice cream. It was definitely a heaps good and fluffy pancake.

Afterwards we went to the school production of "Our Country's Good." This play was "written in 1988 by British playwright Timberlake Wertenbaker, based on the novel The Playmaker by Thomas Keneally. The play tells the story of convicts and
Royal Marines sent to Australia in the late 1780s as part of the first penal colony there." The play was a part of Adelaide's Fringe Festival.

Teaching
Classes are going really well. I cant believe its almost over! This is the 7th week of the 10-week term. It is a short week with Thursday being a half day and Friday being off for Easter. Monday will also be off. The week after next week is week 9 and is the Year 7 Camp in the Grampians. I hear that the Grampians is a beautiful area of Australia. Since I will be missing out on my Year 8 classes I get the experience of leaving work behind for the relief teacher. I will be phasing out the last week of the term and then heading home soon after the term finishes.

Friends
This last weekend I went out with my friend Michelle (who is a junior boarding staff member) and her friend from college (high school). Michelle was an Annesley student back in the day.
I went on a boarder escort with Dee to Glenelg (aka the beach)

I am gonna really miss my friends here when I go home :-(
Yay for facebook!
